Checking into an Unplanned Shift

How to register an unplanned shift in your department.

Working within the service and hospitality sector can be challenging at times; a colleague gets sick or there's unexpected traffic in the store, leaving the manager having to put a shift on you without placing it in the schedule first.

Instead of noting down or trying to remember exactly when you came in, how long your break was, and when you left, you can register an unplanned shift in the Check-In app. This will allow you to register your hours like you normally do, and you don't even have to get a hold of your manager afterward - your shift will appear in the schedule, ready for manager approval as soon as you end the shift. Before you can check into an unplanned shift

To start, your company needs to have this feature enabled in their settings, and you need to be close to your department's iBeacon.

Don't know where the beacon is located? We advise asking your colleagues or manager.


How to register an unplanned shift

When you open the app you should see that you have the option to start an unplanned shift. This is exactly like a normal shift, but it's open-ended and planned without a break.

When you register for an unplanned shift, note that you have to give a reason for why you've started a shift. Make sure it's descriptive enough so that your manager doesn't have to ask questions when approving the shift.

When you're done for the day, simply head into the app again and tap Check out.

Here, you can set your breaks (if you had any), and complete the check-out by sliding the blue switch called Slide to check out.

That's it 🎉

Your manager will see your shift, including your reason for taking the shift, in the schedule, ready for approval.
