Rehire an employee

Written by Amanda Larsen

🛑 OBS - not all clients have this feature enabled 🛑

It wasn't meant to be, but your employee left the company a while ago! But good news, they want to join your team again 🙌

No need to create a new profile, we have created a new feature that will help you in one click to rehire your employee 😊

  • How do I find employees who have left?

  • How do I rehire them? ✍️

How to find the employee who have left?

Go to HR ➡️ User to see the list of the employees. Click on Add filter ➡️ Status ➡️ Ended and apply:

Click on the employee to access their User card.

How to rehire your employee?

There, check the Contract section and click on the blue button Rehire employee on the top right corner:

Enter the start date and fill in the details, done ✅ You do not need to remove the previous end date to rehire an employee. This ensures that the historical end date remains intact while creating a new employment record for the returning employee.

Managing Terminations and New Contracts

  • Do I need to remove the prior termination? No, you can keep the historical end date and directly create a new employment record using the "Create employment" feature. This approach is recommended to maintain accurate historical data.

  • What if I removed the termination? If you have already removed the termination, you should create a new contract for the returning period. However, in most cases, it is unnecessary to remove the end date; instead, directly use the "Create employment" option to set a new start date.

Resolving Greyed-Out Start Dates

If a specific start date is greyed out when creating a new contract, it is likely because the employee already has an initial start date registered in their existing salary basis or first contract. To resolve this:

  1. Navigate to the employee’s Salary Basis (lønnsgrunnlag) section.

  2. Edit the existing first record by clicking the edit option next to the start date.

  3. Adjust the start date as needed and save your changes.

Once the start date is updated, you can proceed with creating a new contract if required.
