What are favourite working hours?
A retail schedule often consists of many different working hours due to factors such as various opening hours and seasons/weather affecting the customer traffic, to name a few. However, you might still have some shift hours that are used daily, over and over again, with little variation. These hours are called Favourite working hours in SameSystem, and the purpose of these is that you can save them, so you don't have to create the same shift details repeatedly. Let's learn how:
How to create favourite hours
1. Start by heading into Planning - More - Favourite working hours, or click the button below to go directly.
2. From here, click on the + Create new button to start creating a new favourite working hour.
3. Fill in the start and end time of the shift, and add a break if applicable. If zones are enabled, select a zone for which the shift will take place.
On the right-hand side, a list of action buttons can be seen. From the buttons, it is possible to assign tasks, breaks, shifts and remove the shift. Adding an additional shift means that both shifts are saved under the same favourite working hour.

4. Press Create when you're ready to save your new favorite working hour. Once saved, the favourite working hours can be found in the Action board in the Schedule for easy access. A user can have up to 20 visible favourites in the Action board.
5. You can now head into your schedule and plan with your new favourite working hour by clicking on an empty shift and selecting the favourite hour from below the timeline, as shown in this video:
You'll see that the system automatically applies all the details from the favorite working hour to the shift.
Tip: Need to make some adjustments to the shift? No problem! You can edit the shift freely after the favorite hour has been applied as well. The original settings of the favorite hour will not be affected.
Support of multiple shifts under the same Favourite working hour
It is possible to add multiple shifts and save them under the same favourite working hour. To add an additional shift, click on the Add shift button. From here the dialog will expand and you can fill out the shift details for the second shift and save them both to your favourite working hours.
Want to view or make changes to the favourite working hours?
Head into your favourite hour list by navigating to Planning - More - Favourite working hours. Here you can create, edit and delete shifts that has been saved as favourite working hours. Clicking Edit will allow you to view and/or edit the settings, while Delete will completely remove the favourite working hour from the system.
You can rearrange the list by dragging and dropping rows. The order of the list is reflected in the Action board, from where 20 favourite working hours per user are visible. Click here to read more about personal favourites working hours.
Important note: You cannot edit start, end, or break time on a favourite working hour that has already been used in the schedule. In this case, you would have to delete the favourite working hour and create a new one 👍
Tip: Clicking the link called Edit favourites while planning a shift will also direct you to the favourite working hours overview page.
